Visual design, UX design
In December, I asked my dad, who owns a business specialised in geothermal energy and heatpumps if there are any existing apps for monitoring and controlling heatpumps at home/inn the office. He then showed me the Siemens app. I immediately saw a lot of functionalities that needed improvement in order to be visually appealing and also user friendly.
I've researched the popularity of heatpumps to find out who would use this app. It turns out, heatpumps have been a popular method to provide large buildings and sites with heating. Since a few years, individual homes and households are also provided with geothermal energy. This makes this redesign very interesting, because when we talk about regular households and homeowners, our target audience becomes pretty large.
Heatpumps provide
Domestic hot water (DHW), Air heating, cooling and dehumification, Provide radiator heating, Provide underfloor heatin, Use energy from solar photovoltaics
User journey
How the app is currently controlled
Clear use of understandable language (so that non-experts will be able to
understand the functionalities as well)
Grouping elements
Prioritize functions and data that is shown
Make sure the machine's state is visible at a glance
